CabNorth Rider Terms

Last updated August 8, 2026. This is a platform agreement outline for riders in Ontario. Have an Ontario lawyer review before public commercial launch. Driver obligations are in the Driver Terms.

1. The service

CabNorth connects you with independent drivers for passenger trips in our service area. CabNorth is a technology platform, not a taxi company and not your driver's employer. Drivers are independent contractors who provide the transportation.

2. Your account & phone

You must provide accurate name and phone information. We may verify your phone by SMS code before showing trip history or other account tools. You are responsible for activity on your verified number. Do not request rides for others without their consent.

3. Booking, fare & payment

Fare estimates are shown before you request. A card hold may be placed when you book and captured when the trip completes (plus optional tip). Promo codes and gift cards reduce what you pay as shown in the app. Final charge may adjust for route changes when allowed by fare rules. Failed or disputed payments may result in suspension of booking.

4. Conduct & safety

Treat drivers respectfully. No harassment, illegal activity, weapons, or damage to the vehicle. Follow reasonable driver instructions for safety (seatbelts, pickup location). CabNorth or the driver may cancel a trip for safety or policy reasons. You may be charged a cancellation fee when policy allows.

5. Contact with drivers

Use in-app or masked calling/SMS for trip coordination only. Do not misuse a driver's contact information after the trip. We may share limited trip details with drivers to complete your ride.

6. Cancellations, refunds & support

You may cancel before or during a trip subject to status rules in the app. Card holds are released when a trip is cancelled before capture. After a fare is captured, refund requests are handled by CabNorth support (support@cabnorth.ca) and processed through our payment provider when approved. Receipts are available from your trip page after completion.

7. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Ontario and Canadian law: the platform is provided “as is.” CabNorth is not liable for matching delays, driver conduct beyond our control, lost profits, or indirect damages. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law. Your agreement with the driver for the transportation itself is between you and that independent driver, subject to applicable passenger-transportation rules.

8. Privacy & law

How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Courts of Ontario have jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections that cannot be waived.
